CLIENT ALERT – Tax Season

By Attorney Isaiah M. Richie, Schloemer Law Firm, S.C.

“It’s tax season!” Most people hate to hear these three words, but they are faithfully repeated every January. Yes, tax season is upon us, and we would like to remind our clients of a few important dates to keep in mind:

  1. W2s, 1099-MISC or 1099-NECs. If your business made payments to any individual or entity in an amount over $600 for services rendered or rent and need to file a 1099-MISC or a 1099-NEC, you must submit those forms to the IRS and payee by January 31.
  2. Farmers. If you wish to file an early farmer tax return, it must be filed by March 1, 2023 in order to avoid making any estimated tax payments.
  3. Partnerships, LLCs, and S-Corporations. Returns must be filed by March 15, 2023.
  4. Personal income tax returns and extensions. These must be filed by Monday, April 18, 2023 because April 15, 2023 falls on a Saturday this year.

In order to ensure your return is processed prior to the deadline, we require that you return all of the information two weeks prior to the applicable deadline. If you wish to file an extension, please contact our office and specifically request us to file one. If you did not receive a tax organizer as in prior years, or if you are interested in having our office provide tax services for you or your company, please contact Attorney Isaiah Richie at 262-334-3471.

We frequently represent individuals and businesses in their tax and other legal matters, focusing primarily on providing tax, business, and other legal services in Washington, Ozaukee, Dodge, and Fond du Lac County and the communities of West Bend, Jackson, Slinger, Hartford, Kewaskum and other surrounding communities.
