Attorney Charles H. Williams Retiring after 32 Years

After 32 years with Schloemer Law Firm, Attorney Charles Williams or ‘Corky’ as affectionately referred to by his colleagues is retiring from the practice of law, effective September 1, 2021.

“Charles was not known to be verbose. His conversations and advice were to the point. When Charles spoke, you made sure to listen, and learn,” said Attorney Jim Spella on his years of working with Charles.

Charles received a bachelor’s degree in history from University of Wisconsin – Madison, B.A. in 1976. He went on to graduate with his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison Law School in 1980.

Charles worked in a variety of settings over his early career, including as a private practice attorney, as Deputy Corporation Counsel for Rock County, Wisconsin, and as a tax attorney for Arthur Andersen & Company.

We were lucky enough to have Charles join Schloemer Law Firm in 1989 after he saw an ad in a newspaper.

For the past thirty years, he has been the go-to attorney for all tax and estate administration questions at Schloemer. His practice focused on tax law, estate administration, business, and real estate related areas, and his depth of knowledge has been an invaluable asset to the firm throughout the years. Charles assisted clients through all stages of the legal process, from advising on estate reduction strategies, to helping implement sophisticated planning mechanisms, to advising through IRS audits. Charles also represented farm clients in a variety of legal matters. He served on the Board of Directors for Casa Guadalupe Education Center, Inc. and Family Promise of Washington County.

“I know I am not alone when I say I will miss being able to stop in or email Charles to ask for his perspective and wisdom. His mentorship has made all of us better and more well-rounded attorneys,” said Attorney Amanda Sacks.

As much as the firm will miss his wealth of knowledge and wisdom, we wish him the best in a well-deserved retirement. In his retirement, Charles is looking forward to spending more time with his wife Laurie and two children, as well as reading, hunting, and kayaking.

We will miss working with Charles. The firm wishes Charles well in his future and would like to congratulate him on a full and successful career.

We have been diligently working to ensure a smooth transition for Charles’ clients. If you need assistance, please contact Charles’ Paralegal Angela at [email protected], or Isaiah Richie, [email protected], at (262) 334-3471.
